Dear friend,

Last night, at Connecticut’s Third Congressional District Convention, I proudly accepted the nomination for Congress.

I accepted the nomination so that I may continue to fight for the people of the Third Congressional District. Standing up for middle-class families in our district is the part of the job I love most. I do not take this responsibility lightly – I never have.

I am re-energized for the challenges ahead, and honored by your support, encouragement, and most of all your friendship.

I could not do it without you.

Sincerely,

Rosa L. DeLauro
Member of Congress

Equal wages long overdue

02.07.13: - Why do equally qualified women make, on average, just 77 cents for every dollar a man makes? Why, 50 years after Congress passed the Equal Pay Act to end the “serious and endemic problem” of unequal pay, has the gender-based wage gap only closed by less than one cent per year?

02.07.13: - Good nutrition is so important for kids, whose bodies are still developing and need the right fuel to enable them to perform better in school. And given the crippling obesity epidemic, the new standards are imperative to ensuring a better future for America’s youth.
