Sikorsky delivers 1,000th Black Hawk helicopter to U.S. Army

STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut lawmakers honored Sikorsky and celebrated the 1,000th delivery of a Black Hawk helicopter to the U.S. Army.

“This is the finest utility helicopter in the world,” said Colonel William D. Jackson, Project Manager, Utility Helicopters with the U.S. Army.

“It is a great day for us to celebrate and to appreciate the contributions of Sikorsky and the men and women who work here,” Gov. Dannel Malloy said.

“Sikorsky equips our military with the tools that they need to protect our company and we are lucky to have them in our state,” said U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro. “To all the hard working men and women of Sikorsky this is not possible without your high quality work.”

The U.S. Army thanked Sikorsky for their hard work.

“So this one helicopter, 775, represents all those years of work, 50 years of continuous development, production, the amount of lives that have touched this helicopter and been touched by this helicopter,” Colonel Jackson added.

During the ceremony Sikorsky handed over the Black Hawk to the U.S. Army.

Governor Malloy also spoke about keeping jobs in the state, highlighting the recent the deal keeping Sikorsky in Connecticut.

“Your strength and willingness to enter into the agreement with Dan and myself assures not only the jobs Sikorsky has created and the supply chain that stretches throughout the state of Connecticut, Both for the Black Hawk and for future production here at this facility,” said Malloy.

In January, there will be a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the first helicopter flight in America in Stratford.

DeLauro: the agenda I fight for in Congress

11.01.16: - “My view is this is the greatest economic challenge to face the country today — that there are jobs that just don’t pay enough money,” DeLauro said. “We have a situation where we have seen wages stagnant for the last 30 or so years and what has happened is that families really are struggling today.”

DeLauro never seems to go out of style

11.01.16: - From punishing companies that use off-shore tax shelters and pushing food safety standards to dangling tax credits to those who surrender assault weapons, DeLauro’s agenda has ingratiated her with the 3rd Congressional District.
